Why choose January?
To me, January is just about the worst month to be suffering depression in if you live in Canada. In most parts we have fewer hours of sunlight, a lot of snow and extreme cold. Winter can be a beautiful time of year... But it is also a very trying time of year for many dealing with depression and other mood disorders. As well, for new Moms and Moms with multiple small children it can be difficult to get around when dealing with snowsuits, baby bags, strollers, icy roads, even smaller parking spaces due to snow build up etc...!

**Fun Fact**
Did you know that several states in the United States of America have declared May Perinatal Depression Awareness Month?! Some of these states include: New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, California and New York. I am not sure but suspect that May was selected as it is the month of Mothers Day!
